Worcester Ma – Return of Civil War Troops 1865

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Main Street , Worcester Massachusetts as it looked in 1865.

Decorated for the return of Worcester troops from the Civil War.

Worcester’s population in 1860 was less than 25,000- She gave to the war the services of 3927 men, more than one in every eight of the population.

In 1910, the battle flags of the regiments raised in Worcester were kept in a case on the second floor of the City Hall, near the Mayor’s office.

I’m unsure as to where they are today.
