Old Orleans Massachusetts Souvenir Plate

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Looking at this item made me realize something…. Souvenirs are dumb, and the granddaddy of all dumb souvenirs is the plate.

Why do people buy these things?   Can’t eat off it.   You could hang it on a wall, but why would you? If you want to remember these places, whip out the old Kodak Brownie and take a picture… Much easier to bore people with your travels using a stack of photos than a porcelain plate…

That leaves target practice… So , before it goes in front of the firing squad (cigarette and all).. I present…

8″ Souvenir Plate From Orleans Mass… Made by Wheelock in England.    One of the pictures is a riveting  “street scene” with absolutely nothing happening in it.. (all “street, no “scene”).. Church , Mill , Cable Station, school…..

yawn…

Sorry plate, you’ve seen your final sunrise…..  You will live on only in this lame post….
