Webster Massachusetts History Photograph

Not sure of the name of the place. The sign on top of the roof is unreadable. The Coca-Cola sign over the door reads “Dine and Dance”

Photo is from a Webster Massachusetts estate.

I “think” this is where Waterfront Mary’s sits now, but I’m not 100% sure.

And a view from the water side…

Westborough Massachusetts Graveyards

According to a 1906 history book….

“In the great Book of Records of the Proprietors of Marlborough on page 294 we find this entry — “At a meeting of the Proprietors held at the Meeting house in Marlborough 2nd Monday in January 1727-1728, Set apart 1 1/2 acres of land in Westborough, where the inhabitants always have buried their dead on the westerly side of the road leading to Sutton to be for a burying place forever.”

In book 2nd, page 177 is a record of 147 rods of land laid out to Westborough South Precinct.   I hold in my hand the original layout.

In Book 1 at page 297 is a record of three acres granted to Westborough for a burying place, and this is supposed to be the old neglected and abandoned town cemetery in Northborough on the north side of the road leading easterly from the road to Westborough and being the first road to the cast after crossing the boundary bridge over the Assabet River. I have a plan of this diamond shaped cemetery received from Mrs. Geo C Davis of Northborough, whose husband owned land on three sides of it. The old headstones are either prostrate or buried in the forest which now covers these graves of the pioneers of that part of the larger Westborough. ”

A “Rod” is equal to 16 1/2 Feet.

Next time i’m in Westboro i’ll have to check these sites….
