Marshfield Massachusetts Railroad History

Marshfield Massachusetts Railroad History Photograph

Went to an estate sale in Marshfield Massachusetts today. It was held at the site of the old Marshfield Sea View Train Station.. The house on the lot now was built from the wood of the station and there’s a building out back with a rock foundation, probably part of the original station.

Station was last used in 1939.

Located on Station St (oddly enough)

I managed to get my hands on the old sign. It’s wood and measures 51″x 11″.

The top photo is how the station looked from an old postcard.

You can click on the photos (and then again on the next page) for a larger view.

I’ll try and get photos the next time I head down.

The reception of President Chester A. Arthur and guests by Mrs Fletcher Webster on October 12, 1882. Event was in celebration of the centennial anniversary of Daniel Webster’s birth.

While Arthur is on no-ones short list of great presidents, it’s still a big event for Marshfield.

Here in Clinton Ma, our big presidential visit was Carter in the late 1970′s.
