Rufus Perkins – Bridgewater, Massachusetts Musket Maker
Saturday, March 7th, 2009Rufus Perkins made muskets in North Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He received an order from the government on Oct 31, 1808 for 2,500 muskets to be completed over 5 years. As of Oct 7th, 1812 , he had delivered only 200.
He died Oct 30th, 1848
He’s buried in Illinois- A plaque was placed in the Polo Historical Library in his memory. I assume it was for his actions during the Revolutionary War rather then his achievements as a manufacturer of muskets. (Filled 10% of the order)
Sort of boring little tidbit… I just like the name “Rufus” , it’s entirely underused in today’s society.
