December 4th, 2011The New Haven Railroad during the surprise 1938 Hurricane that devastated much of Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Thousands of cars stopped. 75 miles of track lifted, twisted, washed out, undermined or covered with sand, stone and debris.
31 Bridges and 200 Culverts washed out.
Over 5000 men worked 3 shifts to repair the damage.
